انفجار بیروت: چگونگی احتمالی حادثه

از ویدئوها کاملا مشخص است که سانحه از یک کارگاه حاوی مواد محترقه (ادعا میشود فشفشه یا امثال آن) شروع شده و سپس به یک انبار مجاور سرایت میکند، که حاوی مقدار بسیار زیادی از مواد شیمیایی با قدرت انفجاری بالا (ادعا میشود نیترات آمونیوم NH₄NO₃) بوده است، که به انفجار عظیم ثانویه و موج انفجار خیره کننده می انجامد.

تخمین زده میشود که قویترین انفجار قدرتی معادل صدها تن TNT داشته است (مشابه یک سلاح هسته ای تاکتیکی). با توجه به قدرت انفجاری کمتر AN نسبت به TNT در این صورت این انبار باید حاوی صدها یا هزارها تن از این ماده (یا موادی با قدرت انفجاری مشابه) بوده باشد. این غیر ممکن نیست، چون سانحه در بندر بیروت رخ داده و یک کشتی باری نسبتا بزرگ میتواند چنین محموله ای را یکجا تخلیه کرده باشد.

Note that a thousand tons of nitrate exploding in a fire is not rare, and it’s less energy per ton than TNT but a large fraction of it. So a warehouse with a few thousand tons of fertilizers… a shipload, stored after unloading, would explain this.
